Our names are Melissa (junior at BHS) and Ashley (sophomore at BHS). We initiated this program because we are both musicians with personal stories about how music influenced and impacted our lives. Not only is the ability to play music a great skill and hobby, we believe that music is also a great method of expression. However, we both know and understand (from having taken lessons throughout our lives) that music may not always be the most affordable activity and that many families may not be able to meet the financial needs that come with learning an instrument /music in general. We strongly feel that everyone should have an opportunity to pursue what they are passionate about, which is why we started this program that offers free lessons to all Brookline middle school students.
